What to call the in-laws can cause some uncertainty. Obviously, it all depends on the relationship you have with them, but they will be family, so it’s a good idea to keep it respectful. Here are a few suggestions on what to do. 

One way a couple can announce their engagement to a big audience is to put it in the newspaper. This is usually done shortly after the engagement but can be done up to two to three months before the wedding date.  If you plan on getting married in your hometown but live elsewhere, the announcement should be in your hometown and where you currently reside.

The parents of the bride traditionally are the ones to submit the announcement, but it can be done by the bride and/or groom. It should include full names, city and state of residence and (if you prefer) the highest level of education and current employment. You can also include where you plan to have your honeymoon and where you will live after you are married.
