Size – The amount of people you have attending your wedding determines the amount of cake needed. Now don’t think that just because the number of guests attending dictates that you have to have a certain size or style. If you have your heart set on say a four-tiered cake, but your guest count puts you at a three-tiered cake, one of your tiers can be a “fake” or Styrofoam filled layer. You’ll get the look you want, not spend the money or waste cake on something that won’t be eaten, and your guests will be none the wiser. On the other side, maybe the budget doesn’t allow you to have the exact cake you want. So there is still something to cut, you can possibly have a small cake or have all but one layer of the displayed cake Styrofoam filled. Then have sheet cakes in the back that is what will actually be served.
