When to Make a Seating Chart

TablesMost couples don’t arrange a seating chart unless they expect a large number of guests at the reception (around 100 or more).  You also might make a seating chart if you plan on a large three or four course meal.  By seating guests in these situations, they can enjoy an evening with good company and not the added chaos of vying for the “best” seats next to the bride and groom. This is also valuable for the caterer.  They will know ahead of time that table number five needs four chicken platters and three pasta dishes.  Any planning a vendor can do ahead of time is helpful!

Planning the reception can be a daunting task, especially if you are trying to find time for the toasts, the dancing, and maybe even the bouquet and garter toss.  You might wonder if there is a guide that can help plan the evening.  Of course there is!   Follow this loose timeline to make sure you and your guests experience a fun-filled reception.

The first hour of a typically four to five hour reception is the Cocktail Hour.
